PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
